Art meets fashion: "Drawing Prada: Animated by Hand"

When true art, crafted by hand, becomes increasingly rare in the age of AI, many brands are quick to follow the latest trends. But some understand that classics never go out of style. Prada seems to have done just that.

Art meets fashion: "Drawing Prada: Animated by Hand"

The new luxury

Italian luxury fashion house Prada is not for everyone, and that's a fact. Not everyone has the pockets to buy its products, but we all have the eyes to appreciate its creativity. This time, however, creativity wasn't limited to the clothing. It extended to the advertising itself.

The fashion house partnered with US-based animator John Pomeroy, the artist behind some of Disney's most beloved animated classics that helped bring our childhoods to life. Together, they blended animation and fashion in a way that is not only visually appealing but genuinely refreshing.

You can see the care and precision that went into crafting both worlds: the fashion pieces and the handcrafted animated illustrations. Together, they create a truly delightful experience. It reminds us that brands don't always need to surrender to convenience and the latest trends, particularly when those choices come at the expense of creativity and human craftsmanship.

Instead, Prada chose to remind us that human talent is not only beautiful but perhaps one of the greatest luxuries of all. And that's something we can all appreciate, whether as spectators or even as creators ourselves.

Now, this doesn't mean I have something against AI. Quite the contrary. It's a wonderful tool that can open doors to the imagination and help bring ideas to life in ways we might never have thought possible. But it should never take over our imagination, nor should it aim to erase the human side of creativity.

Sadly, some brands seem increasingly willing to go down that road. And the motivation isn't particularly surprising: money. Not necessarily money saved to offer customers something special, but money saved to benefit a select few within their corporate structures.

But I digress. Let's focus on this beautiful collection of ads, which balances reality and animation so effortlessly. It reminds us why Prada remains one of the world's most recognizable luxury fashion houses: because it understands the value of talent and the human hands that bring imagination to life.

There's something wonderfully nostalgic about this campaign. It's an invitation to rediscover the charm of classic artwork, brought together with the timeless fashion pieces worn by each of Prada's ambassadors. It's a celebration of two creative worlds that, when brought together, remind us of what makes them so special.

This is the new luxury: creativity, craftsmanship, and creation brought to life by human hands.
