A magazine for people who still finish things

Lion in a Suit exists for writing that needs room. Some of it runs to six hundred words, some to six thousand. We do not publish daily, we do not chase the news cycle, and we have no interest in the take that expires by Friday.

The magazine covers culture, sports, music, fashion and the world as a whole — five sections that share one editorial instinct: that almost everything interesting happens at the point where those subjects overlap. A suit is a sports story. A stadium is a piece of theatre. A record is a document about a decade.

What we publish

Essays and reported pieces, opinion with an argument rather than a posture, and short fiction. Everything is edited closely and paid for. Pitches should include a first paragraph rather than a premise.
